Perception swifty footpegs9/8/2023 I will be upgrading to a better quality yak, though, and this one (and the Blast I also bought last summer) make great extras for the kids, friends or family to go along with me occasionally. Me? I was the former and I don’t regret saving a few hundred bucks (I only paid $299 in December). I guarantee, though, that if you’re expecting a high quality kayak, you’ll be sadly disappointed. Coming in with a very affordable price point, the Drift is a great sit-in option for beginners, but with attributes of a more advanced kayak. Go in with low expectations and you might be very happy. Width: 28.5 (72.4 cm) Weight: 40 lb (18.1 kg) Capacity: 300 lb (136 kg) Perception’s entry level recreational kayak, the Drift is designed to be your go to boat for lakes and slow moving rivers. This will be used primarily on lakes/still water but I dont want the kayak to limit what water I can go on. I’m not saying that boat won’t do what you want, or won’t last you long enough to justify the money, but you get what you pay for. This kind of isnt a comparison but the only other one near me that looks ok is this Perception at Dicks (350) Money isnt an issue and I want one that will last a long time and obviously dont want to spend more just to spend more. I can push it right back out after a few minutes warming in the sun, and it really doesn’t affect the tracking, but that’s mine. Mine is six months old, and it oil cans a bit in the middle. To do this, they get manufacturers like Perception to break out an old mold that is beat up pretty good and cheapen the plastic a bit to reduce the price. Pelican’s Mustang 100x is slightly lighter at 39 lbs, versus the Perception Swifty’s 44 lbs. What is a Perception Swifty kayak made of Material-wise, both kayaks are constructed from durable rotomolded polyethylene plastic. They want to sell something cheap to encourage someone to buy something they otherwise would not. That being said, the Pelican Mustang is slightly more affordable than the Perception Swifty. It is NOT the same quality as the original either. Even the hatch cover still has the Perception logo, but the stern isn’t sealed like the original. I have an America 11 (now called the Angler because they added rod holders) from Dicks, and it’s also an old Perception mold.
